1997 was the year that all three United Methodist Churches in Princeton merged together into one congregation. It was tough a challenge met by gutsy and tough Christian individuals who refused to allow their respective churches to die.

Merging together meant change. Although this is a hard transition for anyone, the congregations faced this challenge head on. Some members went to other churches but the majority stayed together to see their dream and call of God come into fruition.

Merging together meant that all three buildings were to be eventually sold in order to build one new facility. The congregations met in the largest of the three facilities until December of 2003 when the current location was completed. All three buildings were sold to other Christian faith communities.

The history of the three former churches is traced back as far as 1815 with a combined 366 years of ministry at the time of the new building’s completion. It is upon the strong foundation of Jesus Christ, and upon the faith and foundation of countless individuals that Hillside Church has been built.

The history of the United Methodist Denomination may be traced back to a man named John Wesley who was born in 1703 and discovered Christ in his life on May 24,1738.

We are a blessed people who have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to witness a dream from birth to maturity. May our rich history continue to be built upon with the help and faith of someone like you.
